Fundraising: Bird foods to net funds for RSPB

The RSPB is expanding its line of branded products with a new range of wild bird foods. All of the profits raised by sales will be returned to the charity for its conservation projects.

The range went on sale at national retail outlets, garden centres and independent retailers last week. RSPB is in talks with Tesco to discuss selling the brand across its stores. The charity claims that, by actively sourcing the ingredients, creating the recipes and supplying the products to retailers, it has increased the value of each sale.

"RSPB staff will be in stores around the UK to explain the importance of feeding wild birds and how the food people buy helps conservation," said David Spivack, national account manager at the RSPB.

The range includes feeder seed, table seed and duck and swan food, and retails at between 99p and £4.45. Solvent-free packaging is used in line with the charity's conservation aims.
