Fundraising data to go in highlights

Fundraising figures will be included in new summaries of key financial data for large charities that will appear on a new version of the Charity Commission's web register later this year.

The summaries will consist of highlights from the income and expenditure sections in the annual return charities are required to send to the commission every year.

A discussion paper for the commission's recent open board meeting reads: "One of the benefits of the new layout is that it will show a succinct financial profile for the largest charities, including their income and expenditure costs relating to their fundraising activities."

The paper provides an outline of the measures the commission is taking or considering as part of its new duty under the Charities Act to foster charitable giving and voluntary work.
