Fundraising: HBOS's Howard to croon for NSPCC

Howard Brown, the HBOS employee famous for singing Sex Bomb in the company's 2001 TV ad, is to release a version of a Barry White classic to raise funds for the NSPCC.

The bank will release the former Sheldon branch manager's version of You're the First, the Last, My Everything on 7 March and a promotional video in mid-February. Brown, now a full-time brand ambassador, will publicise the song on a tour of HBOS branches.

"No one is suggesting he sings like Placido Domingo, but Howard is raising money for a very good cause," said a HBOS spokesman.

The children's charity will receive about £1 from each CD sold, which could raise at least £30,000 if the record gets to number one.

The NSPCC is HBOS's charity of the year and is also set to benefit from its £1m staff fundraising challenge.
