The 15 UK National Lottery distributors are to launch a website to direct organisations looking for grants to up-to-date information on funding opportunities.
The site, www.lotteryfunding.org.uk, launched this week, is designed to be a single 'virtual doorway' to lottery funding information. It is targeted at those who have an idea for a project but don't know what to do next.
"The website does what it says on the tin," said spokeswoman Lilian Prodromou.
"A lot of fundraisers know what they want, but simply don't know where to get it from."
The site's funding search facility asks questions about the project.
These are structured to take organisations directly to information on the funder most likely to offer funding to their project at that time.
"The site concentrates only on funding schemes that are open to applications," said Prodromou. The site also offers frequently asked questions and a link to case studies of successful applicants.
Lottery funders information is still available on the website www.lotterygoodcauses.co.uk, although the fundraising search engine on that site assumes that applicants have more detailed knowledge about which funder would be most suitable for their organisations.
