FUNDRAISING NEWS: Air ambulances to step up corporate fundraising drive

The Air Ambulance Foundation has appointed its first corporate fundraising manager, who will have the task of raising £250,000 through commercial sponsorship by the end of this year.

Nigel Dumbrell, former business development manager for the Prince's Trust's South-East operations, has been recruited to forge long-term partnerships with national businesses. He also hopes to form several charity of the year partnerships with businesses by the end of 2005.

"I'll be communicating to the corporate sector how vital it is to secure funds to keep this service going," he said. "Our regional operations will still handle community fundraising, but we're trying to establish a separate income stream from national initiatives."

The charity, which launched at the beginning of this year, acts as an umbrella body to support the regional air ambulance services.
