FUNDRAISING NEWS: Barnardo's annual Big Toddle hopes to raise £500,000

Barnardo's is running its fourth Big Toddle event this month and aims to raise around £500,000 for its 300 projects nationwide.

The Big Toddle involves children aged under five, under the supervision of parents or carers, toddling around a half-mile course in a junior equivalent to a sponsored walk.

The event, which is sponsored by financial services organisation Foresters, is unique in that Barnardo's allows participating groups, such as playgroups, to keep 25 per cent of the money they raise.

Toddles are staged up and down the country throughout June.

Last year's event raised £430,000 and Barnardo's aims to beat that this month.
