FUNDRAISING NEWS: Better health grant given to Sheffield

Nearly £1 million of lottery cash has been injected into an area of Sheffield to help make it a healthier place to live.

The £951,000 grant has been awarded to Sheffield's Manor and Castle Development Trust by the National Lottery's New Opportunities Fund.

The area has high rates of coronary disease, mental health problems, teenage pregnancy and various cancers, which the trust hopes it can reduce.

A team of five outreach workers will go into the community to help local people fight against ill health and the living conditions that cause it.
