Fundraising News: Bmycharity aims to streamline Gift Aid

Bmycharity, the online giving gateway, has introduced a system that enables charities and their supporters to complete the entire Gift Aid process just by ticking a box.

Until now, charities have been able to get donors to tick a box indicating they want to Gift Aid their pledges - but it has then been the charity's responsibility to deal with the Inland Revenue to complete the process.

Under the new system, when a donor indicates whether they want to reclaim Gift Aid, Bmycharity reclaims the money directly from the Inland Revenue without the charity having to get involved.

Ben Brabyn, managing director of Bmycharity, said the ease of use presented charities with a significant fundraising opportunity, given that 70 per cent of online donations used Gift Aid, compared with 20 per cent of paper pledges.

"The Inland Revenue gets the information in a standard format so it's also much easier for them to audit," said Brabyn.
