Fundraising news in brief

Arts and Business, the partnerships charity, has released figures showing that private support for the arts sector has grown at twice the rate of inflation.

Arts organisations received £530m from corporate and individual giving in the financial year 2005/06.

The Big Lottery Fund has awarded more than £720,000 to international development charity Practical Action. It will fund a three-year project to help those affected by the 2005 tsunami in Sri Lanka build sustainable livelihoods.

Certified Fundraising Executive International, which awards the internationally recognised CFRE qualifications for fundraisers, has appointed Andrew Day, head of Compton Fundraising Consultants, as its chair for 2007.

Benevon, a US-based fundraising training company formerly known as Raising More Money, is holding an evening workshop in London on 24 January to help charities maximise income from middle and high-value donors.
