Fundraising news in brief

The Institute of Fundraising is to host its first conference in Ireland.

The Fundraising and Donor Development event will take place in Dublin on 27 March and will include presentations from Barnardo's and the Irish Red Cross. 

The Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales received income of £26.8m for 2007. The total amount available to charities from the bank's four foundations in the UK this year is £37m.

Intelligent Giving, the donor information website, has launched a competition to find the most amusing misheard charity name. Entries so far include the Prince's Crust, the International Planned In Da Hood (Planned Parenthood) Federation and the Edam Project. The prize is a £50 donation to the winner's favourite charity.

Foresters, the non-profit making financial services organisation, raised £1.3m for more than 100 charities during 2006. Foresters reinvests its profits in the community through its network of 74 branches across the UK.
