Fundraising News: Centrica staff raise £650k in 12 months

Cancer Research UK has praised employees at Centrica, the group that owns the AA, British Gas and One.Tel, who raised £650,000 for the charity over 12 months, beating their target by £250,000.

Staff chose to support the cancer charity and found a variety of ways to achieve the goals of increasing public understanding of cancer, promoting CRUK's work and raising cash.

A group of AA men took three 'old bangers' on a 3,000-mile sponsored trek through nine countries in three days, in one of many fundraising events.

"So many of their own lives have been touched by cancer that they really have put their heart and soul into this partnership," said Wendy Sawyer, PR manager for the partnership at Centrica.
