FUNDRAISING NEWS: Charities given free cinema advertising

Two small charities, MediCinema and The Children's Hospice Association in Scotland, will mount a major nationwide fundraising campaign this year with the help of cinema advertising giant Pearl & Dean.

The company is marking its 50th anniversary by donating free screen time to two specially filmed cinema ads featuring Ewan McGregor, who is patron of both charities. Cinema-goers will be invited to make a donation at collection boxes in the foyer. The ads will be screened in UGC and Warner Village cinemas across the country from Friday 28 March. Badges playing the Pearl & Dean signature tune and T-shirts will also be sold in aid of the charities.

The Children's Hospice Association Scotland is responsible for the running of Rachel House, the only children's hospice in Scotland, and hopes to raise enough money to build a facility near Loch Lomond. MediCinema raises money to set up cinemas in hospitals and provide free screenings for patients.
