FUNDRAISING NEWS: ChildLine to benefit from BT whispering campaign for £6m

BT is staging the world's longest whisper to raise funds for ChildLine.

The event marks the start of BT's Am I Listening campaign, which aims to get children's voices heard by adults and organisations. The first phase of the campaign will involve BT asking the general public, staff and customers to raise £6 million for the charity.

Pop band S Club will join BT to help publicise the event, which will involve 365 children participating by whispering a message to each other.

"This is a really bold step through the unveiling of a new strategic partnership with ChildLine and the launch of our biggest-ever fundraising initiative," said Christopher Bland, chairman of BT. "The campaign is a long-term commitment and this will help ChildLine move closer to its goal of answering every call."

BT has raise been working with ChildLine and raised £1.2 million this year. "But now we need to raise much more," said Bland.
