FUNDRAISING NEWS: Comic Relief gets a hairy nose for next year's fundraiser

Comic Relief is adopting a hair theme for its Red Nose Day 2003.

"The Big Hair Do" will be the umbrella theme for the fundraising event, which is expected to raise millions to fund Comic Relief's domestic and international relief programmes.

Specially designed hairy merchandise, including a customised red nose and logo, will support the five-week campaign which starts on 7 February.

The charity is launching a Red Nose Day fundraising kit which includes ideas on how to participate in next year's campaign, including sponsored hair cuts.

Hairdressing and retail business Wella has signed up as Comic Relief's official hair and beauty partner and plans to run a series of activities to support the campaign.

Wilfried Richter, chairman and managing director of Wella UK, said: "We are planning an array of activities across our hairdressing and retail businesses which we hope will raise lots of money for Comic Relief."
