Fundraising News: Grooms fundraises in Thora's memory

John Grooms has launched a 'warm' donor appeal to raise funds for its new Dame Thora Hird Memorial Fund.

The disability charity is sending direct-mail packs to its existing donors this week, and will place inserts in magazines in May to test whether it should begin a press advertising campaign in June to recruit new donors.

Launched last week, the fund aims to help disabled people suffering from exclusion and social isolation. Actress Thora Hird was a lifetime president of John Grooms and dedicated a lot of time to tackling these issues in the later stages of her life.

Four celebrities who were close to the actress have already told the charity that they are keen to support the fund.
