Disability charity John Grooms has appointed John Whitehead as its new direct marketing manager as part of increased investment in its fundraising operations.
Whitehead spent six years at the National Trust in a similar role. Filling the direct marketing manager post, which was previously being covered by other members of the fundraising team, was viewed as an important step in maintaining the growth.
"This year our income from direct marketing has exceeded 50 per cent of our total voluntary income for the first time," said John Chamberlain, the charity's director of fundraising. "To continue growing we need to increase our database, and direct marketing is an important part of that."
