FUNDRAISING NEWS: Macmillan breaks world party record

Macmillan Cancer Relief has discovered that it has smashed its own Guinness World Record by holding the world's largest simultaneous party.

Its "World's Biggest Coffee Morning 2002" saw more than 26,000 coffee mornings attended by 545,647 people. The one-day event raised around £3.2 million.

Since its launch in 1990, the "World's Biggest Coffee Morning" event has been one of the charity's most successful fundraising initiatives, and has raised more than £20 million for the charity's work with cancer patients.

This year's event will be held on 26 September.
