FUNDRAISING NEWS: NCH promotes Ebay Valentine's auction

Children's charity NCH is asking the public to eschew traditional flowers and chocolate gifts this Valentine's day, in favour of bidding for T-shirts featuring individual messages of love from 20 celebrities.

The charity hopes to raise £2,000 from an Ebay online auction of the T-shirts created by high street retailer Peacock's, which ends next Wednesday.

Singers Rod Stewart and Cliff Richard, model Nell McAndrew, and TV presenter Chris Tarrant are among the celebrities taking part.

The auction is part of Peacock's promise to raise £1m for the charity by this October.
