Fundraising News: New websites boost online information for fundraisers

The Directory of Social Change launched three fundraising websites at last week's Charity Fair in London.

Designed to make life easier for fundraisers, the three sites together have information on 8,500 funders that provide funding of about £4.5bn.

At the launch in the ExCeL conference centre in London's Docklands, Edwin Beckett, vice-chairman of the DSC, spoke about the benefits the online information will give to fundraisers and charities.

An existing site, www., was relaunched with new features, including an improved search facility and a user profile that will enable users to receive tailored updates on relevant grant-making trusts. The sites and www. have been built along the same model, but the latter will not go live until 19 May.

Ben Wittenberg, head of research and fundraising at the DSC, led the establishment of the websites, which cost £135 each to subscribe to.
