Fundraising News: Online fundraising network hires exec to enlarge turnover

Internet fundraising network Buy.at has appointed David Revett to build up the number of community groups using the online affiliate network and to increase its sales turnover.

Revett, who has a background in local politics and has also worked as radio announcer for Newcastle's Metro radio, will also work with retailers to make the most of the service by publicising it through their shops.

New retail affiliates using the network include BBC Shop, Iceland, La Senza, Scottish Widows and carrentals.co.uk. The network's webshops are free to set up and run, and pay back a percentage of online sales to charities and community groups.

Buy.at has reported ten-fold growth in each of the three years since its launch. Some 500 charities currently use the service.

In his new role of fundraising executive, Revett will also help build relationships within the schools and grass-roots sports sectors.
