Fundraising News: Oxford Street shop helps Higgins trust in fundraising drive

The Terrence Higgins Trust is to benefit from fundraising events held by a clothing store on Oxford Street in London.

Top Shop has agreed to donate money from two events at its store on the London street on December 1 and 2.

Stylist Bay Garnett and designer Anita Pallenberg are sending 1,500 empty bin bags to friends and clients, accompanied by a letter asking for them to be returned with used clothes.

The experts will sell the best items to raise money for the trust at a jumbo thrift sale on 1 December. Top Shop has agreed to give 10 per cent of takings the following night to the same cause.

The events take place in the week following World Aids Day, when new HIV figures will thrust charities working in the field into the spotlight.

"Our services are more in demand now than ever," said Cath Cole, head of corporate and trust fundraising at the trust.
