FUNDRAISING NEWS: Royal British Legion sets up website to plug biking events

The Royal British Legion has launched a website to help promote its new programme of annual sponsored bike rides.

The site, which can be accessed at, provides information about the events, as well as training, motivational resources and a discussion forum.

Cyclists are also able to set up their own personalised web page so that their friends and colleagues can sponsor them online.

"The personalised web page makes life easier for both riders and donors," said Teresa Greener, head of events at the Legion.

The Legion, which has been organising sponsored bike rides for nine years, runs four cycle rides across England and France, and hopes the site will boost interest.

To celebrate the launch of the site, the charity is offering a Trek bike to the 2004th cyclist to sign up for one of this year's rides.
