FUNDRAISING NEWS: Scope unveils fresh foray into DRTV on satellite channels

Scope embarks on its first DRTV test campaign in five years at the end of the month. The 90-second advert will run for two weeks on five satellite channels: UK Style, UK Gold, Granada Plus, the Community Channels and God Digital.

The ad follows the life of a young boy called Jason with cerebral palsy.

His mother repeats the words "I love you

while he is unable to reply until at the end of the ad, using a communication aid, he types out, "I love you Mum".

Actress Caroline Quentin was commissioned to do the voice-over for the ad, which ends with the words, "With just £3 a month now, you could help a child like Jason to find his voice".

Viewers are given a number to call and encouraged to sign up for a regular gift of £3 a month through paperless direct debit.

The test ad is expected to generate more than 800 calls during the two weeks. If successful, the campaign will be rolled out more widely and for a longer period later in the year.
