FUNDRAISING NEWS: Scouts seeks cash for Windsor chapel

The Scout Association is celebrating 70 years of St George's Day parades at St George's Chapel, Windsor, by launching its first fundraising campaign in 10 years.

The Windsor Appeal will raise funds to buy a lasting gift for the royal chapel in time for the anniversary in 2004. The Scouts first marched in the chapel in 1934 after receiving special permission from King George V.

The association is not yet sure what the gift will be, but it may be a scroll or a pew. "The money donated will result in something that Scouters will be proud of," said head of volunteers chief scout George Purdy.
