Socks designed by school children will be on sale in Sock Shops across the country as part of a campaign from the Starlight Children's Foundation.
"Design a Sock for Starlight
challenges school children to think of a design for socks with the winning entries going on sale. The campaign is being launched by Tomorrow's World presenter Adam Hart-Davis. The charity works with seriously and terminally-ill children.
A teacher's pack is being sent to 30,000 schools with each entrant being asked to donate £1 for each design submitted. Sock Shop will donate 50p for each pair sold.
Design a Sock will be supported by radio and online media coverage. Kuisa Clarke, PR and marketing manager for Starlight, said: "Adam is the best-know presenter for encouraging people to learn in a fun and imaginative way. We hope that Design a Sock for Starlight will help to boost the number of people supporting our very sick children."
