The Waterways Trust has unveiled a fundraising campaign to ensure the future of the River Thames in London.
The charity will spend proceeds from its Living Thames Appeal on protecting more than 100 wooded islands along the river.
Face-to-face fundraisers will target popular visiting spots along the river in addition to utilising direct mail and advertising campaigns.
The islands, home to otters, bats, kingfishers, water voles and lillies, are threatened by erosion.
TV presenter Rolf Harris is lending his support to the initiative, as is the Environment Agency. No financial target has been set.
