FUNDRAISING NEWS: Web art gallery to offer mutual gains with link to charity

Macmillan Cancer Relief, The British Red Cross and Crusaid are among the first charities to sign up to benefit from a new online art gallery that will donate 25 per cent of all sales to charity.

Artaid Online, which is to start trading shortly at, aims to create a mutually beneficial relationship between charities and artists. Participating charities will promote the gallery to their supporters through their websites and newsletters, and in return they will receive a donation from sales.

Customers buying from the site will be asked to choose a charity from a list of participating organisations to benefit from their purchase.

A donation of 25 percent of the gross sale price will then be donated to the charity.

"It is a win-win opportunity for artists, buyers and charities," said Artaid Online director Simon Menzies. "We are looking for charities and artists to participate, and hope to get underway by Christmas."

Artaid Online is also able to help and support one-off fundraising projects, such as art exhibitions, for individual charities.
