FUNDRAISING NEWS: Web-based payroll service to simplify donation procedure

A new online payroll giving service launched this month aims to encourage more employers to take up the scheme by using the internet to reduce administration costs and simplify running procedures.

Traditionally, companies wishing to offer payroll giving to their employees are faced with what is often complex and costly paperwork and data processing.

The new service, run by online fundraising company Justgiving, has been designed to overcome this by automating the procedure. Employees can enter their payroll giving preferences on a website which is then integrated into the employer's payroll system.

"This is a revolutionary concept but we believe companies and charities are in need of such a service," said Tom Mansel, corporate development manager of Justgiving.

The service extends beyond the traditional limits of payroll giving by allowing employees to process one-off donations, such as fundraising sponsorship money, through the scheme.
