FUNDRAISING NEWS: Witness service to benefit from grant

The Northern Ireland branches of NSPCC and Victim Support have been awarded a joint £1.5m grant to extend their respective witness services to every crown court in the country for the next three years.

The investment from the Government's Northern Ireland Office falls in line with the Criminal Justice Review 2000, which stipulates that all victims and witnesses should be offered support when appearing in court.

Money for the NSPCC's young witness service will specifically help abused children to give evidence without adding to their trauma, while Victim Support's NI court service will help all victims.
