FUNDRAISING NEWS: YWCA nets cash for information centre

YWCA has secured £65,000 of Neighbourhood Renewal funding to transform a derelict retail site into an information and education centre for disadvantaged young women in Wolverhampton.

Wolverhampton City Council has agreed to transfer the lease of the building, and the funding will now be used to renovate the site.

Work will begin as soon as planning permission has been granted, and the charity hopes that the centre will open early next year.

It will offer information and support on issues such as sexual health, relationships and housing and benefits, and will provide a free on-site creche.
