Fundraising: Sport Relief cash on offer to sector

Comic Relief is to distribute £4m raised in last summer's Sport Relief Mile through the Community Foundation.

The money, raised by thousands of people running at 150 events, will be distributed as grants to sports-based projects for disadvantaged children in the UK.

Sport Relief money is divided evenly between UK and overseas projects supporting children in the poorest communities.

Comic Relief grants director Judith McNeill said: "The Community Foundation has the network to ensure Sport Relief money is widely distributed at a local level to people who really need it."

Charities and community groups can apply for grants of between £250 and £5,000. The foundation manages charitable funds for business and individual donors.
