Futurebuilders advises on charity mergers

Loan fund will offer online matching service

Government-backed loan fund Futurebuilders England is to launch a service for charities considering merging with other organisations.

Futurebuilders is planning to set up a page on its website that will act as a forum where charities can post their details if they are interested in finding merger partners, said Gill Nunn, market development director at Futurebuilders England.

"We want charities to email us or ring us with their details," Nunn said. "Once we have a few interested candidates, we'll post them on our site and create a page where charities can communicate.

"It's extremely straightforward for us to do, so we're happy to run it as an experimental service and see how much interest there is. We'll link to it on our home page and ask other organisations that are interested to link to that page too."

Gill Nunn said Futurebuilders was in a perfect position to help charities thinking of getting involved in mergers.

"Part of our mentoring fund is about offering charities the funds they need to merge or collaborate," she said. "We would potentially be able to offer funds to charities that are interested in merging as well."

Nunn said the page would be launched once Futurebuilders had an initial handful of interested charities.
