Futurebuilders gets surprise response

Small charities have responded to Futurebuilders in greater numbers than had been expected.

Thirty-four per cent of the 293 applications so far have been from organisations with a turnover of less than £100,000.

Futurebuilders chief executive Richard Gutch provided the figure at a meeting of the Institute of Fundraising's statutory fundraising group in London.

"When Futurebuilders was launched, there was a sense that big organisations would mainly apply but there has been a lot of interest from smaller organisations," said Simon George, chair of the statutory fundraising group.

Organisations with turnover ranging from £100,000 to £1m account for 48 per cent of applications, while only 18 per cent are from £1m-plus sized organisations.
