Gabriele Finaldi will become director of the National Gallery

Gabriele Finaldi will become director of the National Gallery in London in August after the retirement of Nicholas Penny. He is currently deputy director for collections and research at the Museo Nacional del Prado in Madrid.

Tree Aid has appointed John Moffett as its new chief executive. He will join the development charity in June from Gorta-Self Help Africa, where he is programme director.

Andrew Johnston will become chief executive of the Boys' Brigade this summer. He is currently chief executive of APT Action on Poverty.

Richard Foley has been appointed the clerk and chief officer of Sir John Cass's Foundation. He was deputy chief executive and grants manager of the education charity.

Bridget McGing has been promoted to deputy director of the Pears Foundation. She joined as programme director in 2013.

The UK Scout Association has appointed David Hamilton as its new director of communications. He is currently head of public relations at Action for Children and will start his new post in May.

Wessex Cancer Trust has appointed Clare Lay as head of fundraising. She was previously managing director of her company LinkedUp, working with charities in Hampshire.
