Baroness Neuberger, the Government’s volunteering champion and former Third Sector columnist, worked to restore Kentish Town City Farm last week together with Mock the Week creator Dan Patterson and author Sam Bourne.

The three were among an estimated 12,000 Jews and others from across the UK who turned out to do a good deed to mark the UK's first national Mitzvah Day (literally ‘good deed day'), which took place on 16 November.

Synagogues, schools, youth organisations and charities ran more than 250 events, including a visit to every home run by health and social care organisation Jewish Care.
