Groups hang on to lottery funds

Kevin Curley, chief executive at NACVS, has assured community groups that have been supported by the Community Fund that they can still apply for Big Lottery Fund grants.

"Even if projects have had the maximum six years' support from the Community Fund, they are still eligible to apply," said Curley.

Curley sought assurance from the fund when NACVS members who had spoken to the BLF became worried about their eligibility. However, a BLF spokesman said he was unaware of any conflicting advice being given.

Curley also quelled rumours that the Reaching Communities programme was geographically specific. "The fund will support local voluntary organisations that provide services to people in 'communities of interest' as well as 'communities of place'," he said.
