Groups urged to survey local work

Voluntary service councils are being encouraged to map out the contribution voluntary and community organisations are making to their local areas.

Navca, formerly known as the NACVS, and the Audit Commission are publishing guidance to help local infrastructure organisations produce detailed records of which policy areas local groups are working in, what services they run and the income they generate.

Local authorities are also being encouraged to take part in the exercise in the hope that Navca and the Audit Commission will eventually be able to compare local voluntary and statutory sector services.

A toolkit has been published today on Navca's new website.
