The government will improve and collate its guidance for volunteers who run events, it was announced in today’s Budget.

Documents released alongside the Budget, delivered by Chancellor George Osborne, said confusing guidance had previously deterred volunteers and obstructed events that are valuable to local communities.

It said the government would improve the quality of its guidance on volunteer events and publish it in a single document on www.gov.uk

A spokesman for the Cabinet Office said his department and the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills were working together on the guidance, which was due to be published in the autumn.

He said more information on the guidance would be published at the end of the week.
