He has been involved with Cipfa as a council member throughout the past five years and is also a Third Sector columnist.
"This job is a new set of challenges, but it's very close to what I spend a lot of my voluntary time doing," Harris told Third Sector. "I hope to help Cipfa even more as a full-time member of staff."
He said he hoped to be able to carry on improving the training and support of those working in charity finance, a cause he has been supporting through his involvement in the creation of Cipfa's certificate in charity finance and accountancy.
Harris's new position will involve him taking charge of finance and back-office functions, including IT and membership administration.
