Hospice takes on support scheme

A charity has taken service delivery into new realms by agreeing to deliver a funeral director's grief programme.

Saint Francis Hospice in Romford, Essex will run the Helping Overcome People's Emotions programme, developed by local funeral director West & Coe.

The company has trained hospice staff on how to run the programme, which brings groups together to discuss their experiences.

"It's a first for the hospice to work with a business and implement an established bereavement support scheme rather than create our own," said Paul Sullivan, bereavement service coordinator at the hospice.

The scheme continues a long-standing relationship with West & Coe, which has previously sponsored hospice events such as golf days.
