Hounds of love

The UK's largest dog welfare charity is staging a 'lurve fortnight' informing people that their ideal partner could be waiting for them at one of its rescue homes. NCDL's campaign includes radio advertisements featuring the sultry voice of a Barry White soundalike, which will be broadcast near the charity's rehoming centres in Evesham, Darlington, Salisbury and Leeds.

Newspaper ads carrying messages such as 'Let's go back to your place' and 'Here I am! What were your other two wishes?' reinforce the theme that dogs are the perfect soul mate. "We have hundreds of dogs who are looking for new homes," said Deana Selby, NCDL's head of communications.

"This campaign aims to let people know that their new best friend is just waiting to be found."
