Howard Bridges has been promoted to the role following Jan Barlow's decision to leave the organisation after three years in the job.

He has been the home's director of estates and facilities for the past two years and was previously director of operations at Pearson Media Group.

"A priority will be to prepare for the organisation's 150th anniversary in 2010 and to complete construction of a new, state-of-the-art cattery, which will open in the latter part of 2010," he said. "In these challenging financial times, we will also focus on our fundraising efforts and reach out to supporters. Their generous support is vital for us to continue the work we do."
