INSTITUTE OF FUNDRAISING: MEMBER VIEWPOINT - National Convention delegates share their views on the event

The National Convention was held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole from 7-9 July.

"The speakers at the conference provoked ideas, allowed opportunities to focus on issues, and enabled me to talk to suppliers face to face."

- Victoria Smillie, Mancroft Advice project (MAP)

"Bertrand Piccard, the motivational speaker, was very inspirational. It was my first Convention and all my expectations were met. I now have many ideas for Crimestoppers."

- Emma Harvey, Crimestoppers Trust

"It was fantastic to meet so many fundraisers in one place and to be able to share ideas. But a closing plenary would have been really good."

- Marnie Wilton, Princess Royal Trust for Carers

"It was such a unique opportunity to listen to the speakers and meet other trust fundraisers because I come from a small organisation."

- Tamara Young, Birmingham Focus on Blindness

"I feel that the Convention has helped me to get a greater overview of different types of fundraising, as well as the many people working in the sector. The bursaries are also great and make the Convention especially worth it."

- Joanne Ryan. Action for ME

"The conference was a good opportunity for me to make a lot of useful contacts in a fun and enjoyable setting. It was very stimulating and the interactive sessions were attended by a wide cross-section of charities"

- Louise Ajdukiewicz, Breast Cancer Campaign.
