Institute of Fundraising: The new season is bringing in changes for the Institute

Autumn is here and that means change is in the air. Amid the flurry of leaves falling from the trees, there is a lot of activity happening at the Institute.

Careerbank, a tool to help you plot your professional development, should have dropped through your letterboxes by now. Developed by the training team to help you to progress your career, Careerbank is an essential item to take to the Institute's round of autumn conferences.

Meanwhile, the Convention team are busy sifting through the session proposal forms received for next year. They are also planning innovations to make the Convention even better when it hits London next July. If you have a great idea for a session, then make sure you submit your idea by Friday 15 October. Proposal forms are on the website.

Look out for the Legacy Promotion Campaign's adverts, both on television and radio, this month. This activity builds on the previous campaigns, to ensure that even more people "remember a charity" in their wills.

The publication of the Joint Committee's report on the Charities Bill last week kicks off a busy autumn for the policy team. We hope that both the Scottish and Westminster Parliaments will start to progress their respective Bills through the legislative process towards becoming law.

Postcomm is set to announce its decision on size-based pricing. The development of new Codes of Fundraising Practice continues apace - let us know if there is a particular code you would like to see developed.

And as it is the 'season of mists and mellow fruitfulness', then it will shortly be time to check your membership details are correct for the next edition of the directory, Who's Who in Fundraising.

Remember, you can change your details anytime on the members-only area of the website.

All this activity means that Market Towers is bursting at the seams.

Not for much longer, though, as the Institute will be moving offices at the end of the month. We won't be far from the old offices and we'll let you know the new contact details soon. Suffice to say it's near a park, so we'll be seeing a lot of those autumn leaves, even if we're losing the river view. Just see what we can do with even more space ...
