Irish conference to tackle cross-border issues

Event for charities that work in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland

A conference on potential issues facing charities operating in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland is being held later this month by Nicva and The Wheel, the two jurisdictions' respective umbrella bodies.

The conference, which will take place on 30 June at Nicva's offices in Duncairn Gardens, Belfast, will look at the regulatory issues facing cross-border charities after the recent introduction of charity legislation and charity regulators in both jurisdictions.

Professor Gareth Morgan, director of the Centre for Voluntary Sector Research at Sheffield Hallam University, will discuss the comparative analysis he has carried out on charity regulation in Britain and Ireland. And policy officers from English and Scottish umbrella bodies will look at the effects of regulation and problems caused by differences in the legislation.
