Jon Sparkes announces departure from Scope

Chief executive to step down in November

Jon Sparkes, chief executive of Scope, has announced he will leave the disability charity in November.

Sparkes, who has been in the post for three years, has accepted a new position as director of workforce development for NHS Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Sparkes was promoted from director of human resources on an initial interim basis after the departure of previous chief executive Tony Manwaring in 2006.

"My three years as chief executive of Scope have never been anything less than inspirational," said Sparkes in a statement.

"Whoever takes on the role of chief executive will find that the ingredients for success are already here."

A spokeswoman for the charity said recruitment for a new chief executive would start as soon as possible.
