Jupp selected as Kohli successor

Indira Das-Gupta

The Home Office has named Ben Jupp as the new director of the Active Communities Directorate.

Jupp will replace Jitinder Kohli, who left in October to become the chief executive of the Better Regulations Authority in the Cabinet Office (Third Sector, 16 November). He will report to the charities minister Paul Goggins.

Formerly a policy adviser at the New Opportunities Fund, Jupp has also worked as a researcher at the think tank Demos, where he wrote extensively on welfare, community and voluntary sector issues.

He has since held a number of posts within the Home Office.

In his new role, which he is due to start tomorrow, Jupp will be responsible for implementing the Government's policies for developing the voluntary sector's contribution to society.

These include looking at how to increase charitable giving in more tax-efficient ways, encouraging volunteering and looking at ways to improve service delivery.
