Peter Mandelson MP quickly got into the swing of things when he was given the opportunity to reverse roles and cross-examine newspaper publisher and BBC TV presenter Andrew Neil. It may look like a scene for the latest reality TV show, but the sparring was actually the centrepiece of Cancer Research UK's 'Turn the Tables' fundraising lunch on Monday.

Mandelson subjected Neil to an interview under the watchful eye of mediator Rory Bremner. Also taking part was Conservative London Mayoral candidate Steve Norris, who gave BBC political editor Andrew Marr a taste of his own medicine. Guests paid £250 to watch, and were also given the chance to pose questions to Neil and Marr at £100 a time. The previous four annual events have raised £160,000 altogether.
