Lepra agrees to tribunal pay-off

An employment tribunal case against medical aid charity Lepra has been settled out of court four days before the hearing was due to begin.

Alistair Heron, former manager of trusts fundraising at the charity, brought a case of constructive dismissal against Lepra. Heron claimed senior managers behaved inappropriately when they learned he was to testify in the hearing of another Lepra ex-employee, Rokunuz Zaman.

Zaman was ruled to have been constructively dismissed at an employment tribunal hearing earlier this year (Third Sector, 25 July).

Doug Frame, another ex-employee of Lepra who is bringing a case against the charity, told Third Sector he advised Heron to agree a settlement of up to £7,000. Heron signed a confidentiality agreement.
