The Communities and Local Government department has pledged to provide significant investment for not-for-profit organisations in a white paper published today.
Communities secretary Hazel Blears will unveil the empowerment white paper, Communities in Control.
Charities have been eager to discover how the Government would invest in the sector after its pledge to give £140m to support regeneration by social enterprises was apparently scaled down.
A spokeswoman for the department said the paper contained "a range of measures to support the third sector, along with significant investment to support third sector organisations to grow and thrive".
